Textures!

I sketched Dave Lowery while he came to BYU last year to give a lecture about storyboard artists in the film industry. The girl in the middle I sketched last sunday in church as a way to keep awake during her talk. And the bust I just sketched from a photo I originally found for a lighting study.

Look at all the pretty colors!

I picked a mango because I love the colors and subtle textures! My goal is to make this mango look 1/100th as good as the food in Ratatouille when I'm done modeling, texturing, and lighting it.

VIKINGS IN SPAAAAACE

Here's some sketches for Joe's midterm.
The theme was take our first vinyl toy design (in my case it was a space man) and redesign it with viking influence. It was a lot of fun, to research real vikings and try to incorporate it into an existing design.
I wanted to make some cool celtic designs with the American flag in the ax/flag (because, you know, they inlaid metal into their axes in the form of celtic designs) but it just stood apart from the overall simple streamlined design I was going for.
Someday I want to go back and develop these little guys further.

It's been a while since I posted anything and its because I was busy all semester working on this:
It doesn't seem like much but it took forever to get the glasses, plates, forks, and table cloth to play nicely. There is still some tearing going on in the table cloth that's due to the high hand whip. But all in all I learned a ton about nCloth. Pretty cool stuff.
I eventually want to make the plates and glasses shatter when they hit the ground.

Painting final

Maybe down the road I'll return to this concept.
But the above piece was way fun to plan, design, and paint.
